Ah yes, the age old conundrum of combining General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics with emphasis on a unified theory of gravity. We simply can't explain how gravity works at the sub-atomic level. It's the holy grail of modern astrophysics that even Einstein couldn't fathom.

String theory (M-theory) was a big proponent in the advancement of quantum gravity, but seems to have lost steam. I'm not sure what ultra modern theories are out there now, as I've fallen slightly behind.

The article caught my attention after a random Google search. :D

Gravity is not a unifying constant. Black Holes adn other dense objects (like a few politicians we could both name) have shattered this level field

Not in itself, no. But theorists aren't satisfied with the fact that we can't seem to find a way to explain gravity on the quantum scale. Remember, the simpler the equation, the more elegant the theory.

Quantum gravity in its current state is rather convoluted and complex!
