Elon Musk is trying to make it a reality. Do you think it'll ever happen?

I hope at some point in the future we'll be able to live on Mars.

Oh, eventually yes I do. It's actually a planet that is ripe for exploring and colonising. It may even have once supported early primative life (the jury is still out on that one).
But I do not htink it will happen as quickly as Trump seems to think it will.

Yeah, sure! Not any time soon, though. Humans are still scrabbling with each other over stupid shit. o_O

I'm also interested in a couple of Saturn's moons. Some are supposed to possibly have liquid water!

Agreed. Saturn and also Jupiter's moons now seem to be ripe for exploration - we've got several rovers and probes going over Mars so we can take our time and look at the gas giants. Ironically, it was originally hought to be far too codl that far out to support life, but the presence of liquid water and volcanoes on at least one is intriguing (due to tidal squeezing, the effects of gravity from the giant planets on their moons as they orbit) and needs to be checked out.
If you can not look for signs of life out there in the stars, look in the Solar System instead!

That's awesome!! I'd love for us to explore like that!

Yeah, but for now let's try to get humans on to the planet Mars. I think it will happen eventually, but not by the end of this decade as Trump seems to think it will.
Maybe by 2040 if all goes well

I'll be 60 years old in 2040. Hopefully it happens during my time.

We all need to go watch the movie "Total Recall" (the original).

Oh yes, with Arnie and Sharon Stone? THat is far better than the somewhat disappointing Kate Beckinsale remake!
Agreed. The remake was extremely lacking. Heather and I have watched the original hundreds of times. We enjoy quoting it and laughing at the various scenes! Plus the Paul Verhoeven and Arnold commentary on the disc is fucking awesome!
